Welcome to IRI Creating a Financial Global Demographic Strategy
Every portfolio and every investor has a set of economic assumptions. Modern Portfolio Theory uses long-term historic, asset class returns as assumptions for the future while disclaiming history as a predictor of the future. Every client has an assumption about the future of the economy whether or not they can substantiate it statistically. At Investor Resources, we approach things much differently: • As business owners, we have had close contact with our clients and have built our processes around identifying the unique situation of each client. The Old Saying “Buyer Beware” Still Exists in the Traditional Investment Environment Putting the interests and needs of our clients ahead of our own…what a novel concept! You would think this is a normal protocol in the investment and wealth management business. Think again. A recent court ruling confirmed that Big Brokerage Firms like Charles Schwab, Edward Jones and Smith Barney DO NOT have a fiduciary responsibility to their investor customers; rather their primary responsibility is to protect the interests of their investment banking clients which are giant corporations. The interests of individual investors, like you, come second. At IRI, your interests always come first and you certainly won’t find major corporate investors or fresh-faced college kids overseeing your investment accounts. No, at IRI, you will get experience, one-to-one service from the owners and complete accountability. And more importantly, you will get what every client deserves most…Respect. Sailing or Rowing Let’s imagine for a moment that we are on the high seas of investing. If the prevailing winds and tides are keeping us on course for our destination, we can simply set the sails and sit back and relax. Secular (long term) bull markets are “SAILING” markets, where the prevailing economic winds are the prime driver of returns. Secular Bear Markets are “ROWING” markets, in which headwinds require considerable skill and work in search of value. To reach our desired destination in rowing seas, we will be required to be very active both in rowing and in course adjustments. The reason that investors have experienced substantial losses in their investment strategy during these difficult markets is that they are primarily following the “sailing” strategies of the great bull market of the 80’s and 90’s, when they should be including a component of “rowing” strategies in the more volatile and challenging markets of this decade. At Investor Resources we utilize investment strategists that are experts in both rowing and sailing strategies.
